The song Mystery Mountain was released in 1971 by Journey on their debut self-titled album. The band's lineup in the early years (pre-Steve Perry) included Gregg Rolie on keyboards/vocals, and a young Neal Schon on guitar, both of whom had previously been part of Santana. The band's sound was decidedly more progressive, featuring longer songs with extended solo sections and creative chord progressions.
